“This is a simple and beautifully written arrangement of Pure Imagination. The piano is charming and inventive, and the effect of the whole piece is magical and moving.”
says Chris Machado, Provo, UT – Cantorum Early Music Chamber Choir

Here, Jo-Michael Scheibe leads the USC Thornton Chamber Singers at St. Matthew’s Episcopal.

“Pure Imagination” is a song from the classic 1971 movie Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. It was written, for the movie, by British composers Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley. Sung by Gene Wilder, the song has been covered many time by fans and choral students. The version here, conducted by Jo-Michael Scheibe, has been tastefully arranged as a concert piece for choir by Matthew Nielsen. Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, Matthew is a young and active conductor with a history of performances in venues such as Norwich Cathedral and London’s St. Giles-in-the-Fields and St. John’s, Smith Square.
